TONIGHT
Fried chicken and hot sauce, rice and pickles, a bar that runs late. The corner of Ninth & Rail, most nights 'til 1.

Union Flats, Kessler
—
Where the crosstown line still stops, and has for a hundred years.
Crosstown cooks the food of the block it's actually on.
Union Flats has been a landing spot for a long time — wave after wave of people who came through the rail yard and stayed. The food on this corner grew out of all of them: Southern cooking and the Great Migration, Caribbean and West African kitchens, the diners and the corner stores, whoever set up a stove nearby.
So our menu doesn't pick one flag. It's fried chicken brined in hot-pepper vinegar next to rice cooked the way three different grandmothers would each insist is correct. It's a sandwich that started as one thing and became another. That's not fusion — it's just what people on this block have been eating for generations.
We cook it late because this is a neighborhood that works late, plays late, and gets hungry late. The kitchen's on 'til one; the bar a little past that.
What's on tonight.
The night changes as it goes. Check what's running now — the kitchen, the bar, the seats, and whatever's on.
"Right now" reads your device's clock to show the closest service — it's a demonstration of scheduled states, not live occupancy or wait times.
Built for the table, and the hour.
Order a bunch, share it around. The late-night list is shorter and hits harder — marked below.

After the kitchen slows.
The back half of the night has its own program — records, guest cooks, and the neighborhood dropping in. Fictional lineup for the concept.
Vinyl Night
A rotating neighbor behind the turntable, soul & funk 45s, late menu running.
Guest Cook
We hand the pass to a cook from the block for one late-night dish. Sells out most months.
Neighborhood Table
One long communal table, one set price, whatever's good that week. Bring a stranger.

Most places quit at ten. We don't. After the dinner rush the room loosens up, the late menu comes out, and the seats at the bar are the best ones in the house. Walk in — late night is first-come.
